Sometimes I ponder if it’s safe to leave me home alone with a book of crochet patterns, a crochet hook, some wool and an impending occassion for which I need a gift. Then I conclude YES it is because it is on such occassions that awesomeness happens.

Last week’s occassion was the wedding of an old college friend. I briefly mused on what to buy them, then decided that making them a present would be so much better.

Here is the end result:

I’m a little worried they won’t like them. Or will think it’s some kind of bizare voodoo curse. It’s not guys, I made them with all the love and good intentions I could muster into my crochet hook. Just incase they weren’t appreciated I also slipped some cash into an envelope for them to buy something more traditional if they so wished.

A quilt of old t-shirts

I have lots of old clothes, mainly t-shirts that no longer fit me and are too worn for a charity shop. I loved them so much in the past it seemed a real shame to throw them away when suddenly I was struck by inspiration. Why not cut them up and make them into a quilt. Yes! I will post more photos later but here are some now for starters…

First I cut out some 20/20 squares out of an old sheet. The t-shirts are so stretchy I thought it would help to sew them to squares first.

I cut 24 squares out of the sheet, and so far I’ve finished about 12 so there will be more on this story later.

As of yet I have no projects on the go but I’m setting this up ready and rearing to go for when I do.

I did just buy a new crochet book though so hopefully soon I shall have something to share. I will also review said book when I’ve had a good explore.
